Napoli Manager, Luciano Spalletti has revealed that the Nigerian International striker, Victor Osimhen will feature in their Champions League tie against Ajax.
OsunDaily News recalls that the 23-year-old striker was sidelined for their trip to Amsterdam, where they thumped Ajax 6 goals to 1.
The Nigerian suffered a knock during Napoli’s UEFA champions league match against Liverpool last month and has recently resumed training.
However, Osimhen did not feature in their 4-1 league victory against Cremonese.
The Nigerian, having been tipped to be one of the most important players to his Italian boss, is set to return to action as Napoli takes on Ajax in their Champions League return fixture tonight, October 12, 2022.
Will Osimhen Play Against Ajax?
Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone have excellently impressed Spalletti, having jointly scored seven goals in the absence of the Super Eagles’ talisman.
The Italian manager, speaking to Napoli Magazine ahead of the champions league tie against Ajax, said: “We created the group like this and Osimhen is still integral to our plans. It was a problem not to have Osimhen on the team, but the skill of Raspadori and Simeone made it so that we did not feel the need.”
“Osimhen is a top footballer, now we find him and we are delighted to see him in our team. He will start from the bench,” he added.
For Spalletti’s team, which has gone undefeated in their 2022/2023 Champions League campaign, a victory would be satisfactory.
