23-year-old Super Eaglesย forward, Josh Maja, has made a strong start in the 2022/2023 Ligue 2 season.

Due to severe financial problems that plagued the team and injuries to key players who also affected their performance, Bordeaux was relegated to Ligue 2 last season.

OsunDaily News recalls that the Nigerian forward featured for Fulham in the 2020/21 premier league campaign, scoring 3 goals in 9 games.

Maja was earlier signed by Fulham on a loan deal that runs through 2020/2021 summer with a ยฃ9 million buyout option. The 22-year-old Nigerian international joined the Ligue 1 club in January 2019 after scoring 16 goals for Sunderland in League One.

With the striker inspiring the group with his incredible performance and goals, Bordeaux has blazed the Ligue 2 with 7 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses.

On Saturday afternoon, they played at home against Metz, and in the 45th minute, an international from Nigeria scored from the penalty spot to give them the lead.

He was replaced in the 82nd minute, and Fransergio’s second goal in the 92nd minute ensured a 2-0 victory for David Guion’s men.

What Next For Super Eagles’ Josh Maja?

After losing to the 2019 African champions, Jose Peseiro’s men will be looking forward to returning to winning ways. The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be facing Costa Rica and Portugal. After the Super Eagles coach has snubbed Maja for the match against Algeria, the Nigerian will be expecting a call-up as a backup for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who is just recovering.
