The Management of Nigeria Air Limited on Tuesday has cautioned Nigerians about fake websites and links used for recruitment advertisements and announcements by unscrupulous members of the public.

The Special Assistant (Public Affairs) to the Minister of Aviation, James Odaudu, in a statement, advised Nigerians to disregard such notifications or invitations as no fresh exercise is currently ongoing.

He also advised those who applied for the earlier officially advertised positions to get authenticated information from the official website: www.nigeriaair.world.

The statement mentioned that unsuspecting members of the public should be aware and take precautions against the actions of the so-called agents who have created a host of fake websites and links supposedly for the submission of applications.

“The attention of the Management of Nigeria Air Limited has been drawn to some recruitment advertisements and announcements by certain unscrupulous elements claiming to be agents or staff of the upcoming airline,” the statement read in part.

For this reason, those concerned are therefore advised to ignore such announcements or invitations, as responding to, or dealing with them in any way, will be at their own risk.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the official website is www.nigeriaair.world, and only those pre-qualified as meeting the B737 requirements will be contacted by the management of Nigeria Air Limited individually, and certainly not by public announcements,” the management clarified.

The Nigerian Air management also used the opportunity to inform the general public, especially those who have applied for the earlier officially advertised positions, that no recruitment interviews or tests have been scheduled, and that all such announcements or invitations for such should be disregarded as they are the handiwork of fraudsters and scammers.

โ€œManagement appreciates the unprecedented level of interest shown by Nigerians in the airline which has resulted in the receipt of over 20,000 applications for positions in the organisation so far and wishes to state that the recruitment process for other positions will begin in due course,โ€ it said.

Meanwhile, jobseekers are being scammed day in and out of time and money by the dubious actions of these fraudsters and scammers posting fake job adverts on popular recruitment websites.

Barely two months ago, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) also warned the general public to be vigilant and stop dealing with artists who pose as recruitment agents for the Service in order to collect huge sums of money from unsuspecting victims with promises to provide them employment.

The Service alerted the general public that it wasn’t conducting any recruitment at the moment, and does not conduct recruitment exercises through back door channels should the need arise to expand its workforce.

FIRS insisted that it does not compromise standards and is very mindful of recruiting competent hands to carry out the task of revenue mobilisation for the nation, and that the Service will let the public know when its recruiting, so they can follow appropriate channels and processes in its recruitments.

FIRS said it has always used advertisements on public channels of communication, followed by rigorous screening, interviews and examination exercises in its recruitment processes.

The Service also warned media practitioners against allowing their mediums to be used as platforms for publishing unauthorised and fake application processes and recruitment portals that hoodwink the unsuspecting public.

The Management of the Service said it would take all necessary legal action against any platform found to be engaged in such fraudulent advertisements.
