A former Ghana international, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, has backed the Black Galaxies, the countryโs home-based national team, as they prepare for the crucial second leg of their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Nigeria.
In their last encounter, the two nations faced off in a tightly contested match that ended in a goalless draw. This result means that Ghana must secure a victory or at least a score draw in the upcoming match against Nigeria to ensure their advancement to CHAN 2024.
Agyemang-Badu emphasized the importance of a bold playing style for the Ghanaian team in this decisive fixture as he cautioned against a defensive mindset.
โWe should be very careful not to go and defend. This is only one game, and when you lose, you are not going anywhereโ, he said, as quoted by Joy Sports.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, he reflected on Ghanaโs recent failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, saying, โWe canโt do that [lose] because mind you, we didnโt qualify for the [2025] Africa Cup of Nations.โ
He further added that failing to qualify for CHAN would constitute a significant setback, referring to it as โa little bit of disaster.โ
More so, Agyemang-Badu expressed his unwavering support for the Black Galaxies, encouraging both fans and players to rally behind the team.
โWe will support them, pray for them; they [Galaxies] should go all out and win the game for us in the return leg,โ he said.
