The Spokesperson for Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, has responded strongly to recent allegations made by the National Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Dr. Ajibola Bashiru, asserting that the APC official is raising false alarms rather than acknowledging the transformative projects and services initiated by the Adeleke administration.
In a press release issued today, Mallam Rasheed Olawale underscored that Dr. Bashiruโs frustration stems from the significant progress Osogbo has witnessed under Governor Adeleke’s leadership, especially in the wake of ongoing infrastructure upgrades and community development programs. He characterized Bashiru’s comments as baseless, motivated by shock at the positive changes in Osogboโhis own hometown.
โThe Governor and the Chief of Staff, Hon. Kazeem Akinleye, have never threatened violence or instability. On the contrary, Governor Adeleke is a man of peace, demonstrating remarkable restraint in the face of adversity, including when he was denied victory after the 2018 elections,โ Rasheed clarified.
The spokesperson further criticized Dr. Bashiru for misinterpreting Hon. Akinleye’s remarks and twisting innocuous statements. Mallam Rasheed emphasized that suggesting citizens should protect their votes from electoral malfeasance reflects a normal and responsible call for civic engagement, not a threat of violence. “It is the APC leadership, not Governor Adeleke or his administration, that has a history of making inflammatory statements,” he stated.
Mallam Rasheed Olawale highlighted the growing collaboration between the Adeleke administration and the Federal Government, noting that top federal officials have been consistently visiting Osun State to commend the Governor for his commitment to good governance. This increasing partnership, he argued, appears to be the source of irritation for the APC Secretary.
In light of the allegations, the state government has urged law enforcement and security agencies to dismiss the unfounded claims made by Dr. Bashiru, reaffirming that neither Governor Adeleke nor any of his officials are involved in any agenda of violence.
โIs the APC Secretary threatened by calls for citizens to safeguard their democratic rights?โ Mallam Rasheed queried, expressing disbelief that such calls could be misconstrued as incitement.
Mallam Rasheed concluded by recognizing the Governorโs significant achievements in Osogbo and across the state, urging Dr. Bashiru to appreciate the progress being made rather than perpetuating discord. โInstead of criticizing those committed to the development of Osogbo, he should express gratitude for Governor Adelekeโs substantive contributions to the community and the state at large,โ he said.
