Southampton’s manager, Russell Martin, expressed a sense of optimism regarding Paul Onuachu‘s fitness ahead of the crucial match against Brighton, scheduled for 9 p.m. tonight, November 29.
Paul Onuachu, who has been a key player for the Saints, sustained an injury during the team’s narrow 3-2 defeat at home against Liverpool last weekend.
Following the match, there were concerns that the injury might sideline the striker for an extended period, raising worries about the team’s attacking options.
However, Martin has some positive updates about Onuachu’s condition. In a press conference ahead of their Premier League tie against Brighton, the coach said, “Paul is currently being assessed, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that he can come through this without any issues.”
He went on to clarify that the injury is not as severe as initially feared, saying, “It’s not a bad injury at all, which is really good news for us. It’s just a niggle, so we should be able to manage it properly and hopefully have him involved in the game.”
This season, Paul Onuachu has only made a handful of appearances in the league for Southampton, and the match against Liverpool marked his first start of the campaign.
