The Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, has urged Nigeriaโs Under-20 womenโs football team, the Falconets, to go for victory against Japan in the FIFA Under-20 Womenโs World Cup in Colombia.
John Enoh, speaking through his spokesperson, Diana-Mary Nsan, commended the Falconets for their outstanding performance in the group stage of the tournament.
Recall that the Falconets secured impressive victories against South Korea and Venezuela, finishing second in Group D, tied on points with Germany.
In his statement, Enoh emphasized the unwavering support of the entire nation for the team and urged the players to approach the crucial match against Japan with confidence and determination.
He highlighted the teamโs remarkable skill, resilience, and fighting spirit displayed in the group stage and expressed his confidence in their ability to overcome Japan.
The Falconetsโ journey to the knockout stages has been characterized by strong team spirit and tactical discipline, qualities that the sports minister believes will propel them towards success in the upcoming match.
Enoh said, โThe Falconets have shown remarkable skill and resilience throughout the group staged no doubt but that they have what it takes to succeed against Japan.
โI urge the girls to approach the game with confidence and belief in their abilities. The entire country is behind you, and I have every confidence that you will make us proud. Play with your hearts and leave no stone unturned.โ
He added, โYou have already demonstrated that you can compete with the best, and I want you to go out there and fight for every ball, for every chance, for victory. Japan is a strong team, but so are you. This is your moment to make history, and we are all behind you.โ
The Falconets of Nigeria will take on Japan in the under-20 World Cup in Colombia at 2 a.m. on Friday, September 13.
