Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has called on the new entrants into the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, to refrain from any act capable of causing crises or disunity in the party.

He stated this yesterday at the Ezza North Local Government Area during the funeral ceremony of late HRH, Christopher Igboke Ewa, who was murdered in his house in February 2023.

The governor frowned at the activities of some defectors who, according to him, have started forming groups within the party.

He cautioned that such action, if not urgently checked, may be detrimental to the existing peace and unity in the party.

โ€œThose of you who just joined our party and have started forming groups, be carefulโ€, Nwifuru warned.

The governor also expressed displeasure over the conduct of some of his appointees who were said to have fought during a defection rally in Ezza North Council headquarters during the week and directed the family of the late Ewa to meet and nominate one person for appointment as commissioner.

โ€œThe two commissioners from this place are fighting. I want you to nominate one person for me to appoint as commissionerโ€, Nwifuru stated.

He also warned the two local government chairmen from the area whom he said have abandoned their duty and are going about Instigating crises to be wary of their actions.

He further vowed that he would not hand over the government to any group of people that are fighting, stressing that former Governor, David Umahi, Chief Martin Elechi, and Senator Pius Anyim will all be instrumental in choosing his successor.

Recall that there have been political unrest in Ezza South and North Council Areas in the state in recent times following the defection of some perceived political bigwigs from the area.

The state Governor consoled the family of the late traditional ruler and vowed that his killers would not go scot-free. He enjoined the people to live in peace and stop hatred among themselves.

The governor was accompanied to the burial by the former governor and current Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi; former senate president, Anyim Pius Anyim; Senator Kenneth Eze of Ebonyi Central, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi of Ebonyi North, Senator Okorie Ani of Ebonyi South, House of Representatives members, State Executive Council members and a host of others.
