The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has denied the fake job advert being circulated by unscrupulous individuals whose schemes are to defraud unsuspecting job-seekers.

The examination body also cautioned all individuals who engage in deceptive practices to desist from such immediately and turn a new leaf.

The Acting Head of Public Affairs at the exam body, Movosola Adesina in a statement issued Friday explained that the nomination of supervisors is solely done by the various Ministries of Education.

It added that invigilators are appointed by schools that present candidates for the examination, emphasising that as a globally recognised examining authority of a high calibre, it maintains an unwavering commitment to ethical practices and would never require job applicants or potential employees to provide monetary compensation in exchange for securing employment.

WAEC added that any individual who engages in any transaction with the website or any other one, apart from the official WAEC website, does so at his/her own peril.

It stated: โ€œThe attention of the West African Examinations Council has been drawn to an online portal advertising job offers purportedly from the Council.

โ€œThe said website advertised job offers that are supposedly meant for ad-hoc staff who would serve as supervisors and invigilators in the forthcoming West African Senior School Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, 2024.

โ€œThe Council would like to state categorically that the advert did not emanate from us and thereby disassociates itself from the fake job advert being circulated by unscrupulous individuals whose schemes are to defraud unsuspecting job-seekers.โ€

โ€œWAEC is not currently engaging in recruitment activities. Whenever job opportunities arise, they are exclusively advertised through the daily newspapers, WAEC Nigeriaโ€™s official website (www.waecnigeria.org), and all of our social media platforms.โ€
