The Ekiti State House of Assembly has read the riot act to all project contractors in the state, warning that shoddy jobs will not be tolerated.

The House of Assembly Committee on Works had probed some contractors handling road projects across the state following unsatisfactory quality and pace of work.

Following observations made during the committeeโ€™s recent oversight visit to project sites, managing directors of Step Development Ltd and Dortmund and Co. Ltd, both construction companies, were summoned to appear before the committee.

At the interface with the committee on Wednesday,
lawmakers expressed concerns about the quality of work and the need for timely project completion, especially with the approaching rainy season.

The committee headed by Hon. Tony Adaramodu called for immediate corrective actions to address defects or deficiencies identified in the projects being undertaken by the contractors in question.

The committee warned that the state Assembly would not tolerate substandard work or delayed project completion, emphasizing that contractors are obligated to prioritize the interests of the people of Ekiti State.

The lawmakers reiterated the commitment of the 7th Assembly to ensure that all projects meet stringent quality standards and are completed within specified time and with utmost transparency in project execution.

The committee affirmed its commitment to effective oversight and accountability in project management, stressing the importance of cooperation from contractors to ensure the successful implementation of infrastructural projects across the state.

โ€œThe Ekiti State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Adeoye Stephen Aribasoye remains steadfast in its dedication to the development of Ekiti State and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that all projects deliver lasting benefits to the residents of the state,โ€ the committee affirmed.
