In view of the proposed nationwide protest by the organised labour, scheduled for February 27 and 28, 2024, the Kogi State Police Command has assured protesters of adequate security during the period.
Kogi State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday night noted that, Commissioner of Police Bethrand Onuoha, at an engagement meeting with labour leaders in Lokoja, the state capital, on Monday appealed to them to ensure a peaceful protest.
Aya said: “The meeting was aimed at appealing to the labour union to conduct themselves within the law to prevent hoodlums from hijacking the process.
“He (CP) further appealed for cooperation from the labour leaders so as to deny hoodlums the opportunity to hijack the process.
“CP Onuoha assures of adequate Security deployment during the protest.”
The meeting, according to Aya, had in attendance, the Kogi State chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Gabriel Amari, and chairman of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, Comrade Sule Ahmed Tijani.
Senior police officers in the meeting according to Aya include, DCP Chike Louis Nwabuwa, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, and SP Shamsideen Bawa Ibrahim, Admin Officer, Operations.
