The Benue State Government has approved the construction of two overhead bridges in Makurdi, the state capital.
The approval was given by the State Executive Council, SEC, according to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula while briefing journalists at the government house on the resolutions reached.
Kula said the State Ministry of Works, Housing and Urban Development has already been directed to work out modalities for the award of contracts for the two bridges which are to be constructed at the Wurukum and High-Level Roundabouts of the State capital.
Hé said the government is also set to establish the Benue Public Service Institute (BPSI) which will be saddled with the responsibility of training and re-training Civil Servants for optimal performance.
Kula explained that the Benue State Staff Development Center was created to train a certain category of Local Government Civil Servants and not State Civil Servants, adding that for over thirty years, most civil servants have not received any form of training making it necessary to establish the Institute which will also be the coordinating body for the State Civil Service Promotion Examinations.
Kula further revealed that the SEC also approved the restructuring of seven ministries in sync with what is obtainable at the federal level to enable the state, move at speed with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Meanwhile, the SEC also approved the construction of three major rural roads, one in each of the three Senatorial Districts.
However, Makurdi, the Benue State capital is to be exempted because of the ongoing road construction there.
