The southeast zonal leadership of the African Democratic Congress,(ADC), on Friday applauded the display of boldness by the new Commissioner of Police, CP Danjuma Aboki, to deal ruthlessly with promoters of the Monday sit-at-home in the southeast.
The party leadership regretted that the illegal actions by the pro-Biafra secessionist organizations in states of the Igbo ethnic-nationality have done worse than good.
The National Vice Chairman of the ADC, Chilos Godsent, comments are contained in a statement forwarded to DAILY POST on Friday.
The Southeast ADC chapter lamented that the Sit-at-home order pronounced and enforced by the leadership of the IPOB led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu had ravaged the region which has continued to lead to wanton killings by unknown armed men, bandits and kidnappers, particularly in Imo state in the past three years.
The party also called on the Imo State Police Commissioner to conduct the conflict analysis for a proper understanding of the cause, dynamics, trend and trigger factors of the conflict.
According to the zonal ADC leadership, โWe also recommend that the Commissioner of Police divide the security program into three phases.
โPhase One should be to provide adequate security and build confidence in banks, federal and state ministries, including the private service providers in Owerri metropolis to regularly open for business on Mondays.
โPhase two is the provision of adequate Security on the roads to enable motorists ply the roads without attacks from bandits on Mondays; while phase three, the relevant authorities should deploy an adequate police intelligence and surveillance team to patrol all hot spots in the various communities in local government areas, โIt further suggested.
โCP Danjuma Aboki should convene an inclusive town hall brainstorming dialogue with Civil Society Organisations working in the area of security conflict Prevention, Resolution Management and Peace-building in Imo State to jointly develop a template on how to effectively combat the menace of insecurity in the state,โ the ADC added.
