The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu has advised Nigerians to beware of fake humanitarian and child support schemes.
In a statement issued on Sunday by her media aide, Rasheed Olanrewaju Zubair, the minister said her attention has been drawn to a bogus child support scheme with the title โFederal Governmentโs โฆ50,000 Child Support Fund for all Nigerian parentsโ.
She stressed that the purported scheme is fake.
Edu said it did not emanate from the Ministry, revealing that all social intervention schemes of the Ministry are well documented and are in the public domain.
The statement said, โThe so-called โChild Support Schemeโ is fake and is not and can never be any of the Ministryโs schemes.
โThe general public is hereby alerted that undesirable elements whose sole agenda is to mislead and defraud unsuspecting Nigerians are behind the fake scheme advertisement and the link.โ
The statement disclosed that security agents have swung into action to unmask the unpatriotic elements behind the intended scam.
โNigerians are advised to ignore the link to avoid being defrauded of their hard-earned money.โ
