The Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG, in charge of election in Kogi State, Ahmed Habu Sani, has warned political thugs to stay clear from the November 11 governorship election in the state.
Sani gave the warning on Thursday during a press conference held at the Command headquarters in Lokoja.
The Police DIG who reassured members of the public of security agenciesโ readiness towards ensuring a free and fair election, noted that anyone caught orchestrating violence will be arrested and prosecuted.
He maintained that politicians should play by the rules of the game, adding that security agencies remain resolute towards achieving a transparent electioneering process.
โAll security agencies will be on ground across the 21 Local Government for this election. Tags will be given to them for easy identification.
โLet me state categorically here that any person or group who intend to cause violence or problem before, during or after the election should have a rethink. Anyone caught will be dealt without fear or favour,โ he emphasized.
He called the people of Kogi State to collaborate with security agencies towards the peaceful conduct of the election.
