The appeal court sitting in Lagos on Tuesday affirmed the election of Honourable Ibori-Suenu Erhiatake of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who was elected to represent the Ethiope Federal Constituency, Delta State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared Erhiatake the winner of the February 25 election.
But Ben Rolands Igbakpa of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, and his All Progressives Congress, APC counterpart, Mr Halims Ahoda, challenged the election outcome in court.
Justice Festus Ogbuinaya, Justice Senchi, and Justice Waziri, who delivered the judgement on Tuesday in Lagos, upheld the verdict of the tribunal, which earlier declared the PDP candidate as the true winner of the election.
Ibori-Suenu Erhiatake is the daughter of a former governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, Erhiatake described the ruling of the court of appeal as a victory for God and her constituents.
