Offa community in Kwara State has announced plans to transform its annual Ijakadi Festival into a global event.
Chairman of the media committee for the 2023 Ijakadi festival, Chief Waheed Olagunju, disclosed this at a press conference in Ilorin.

He said plans are underway to make the festival a global one and a replica of the Brazilian festival to attract foreigners from abroad.
According to him, the desire of the people is to upgrade the festival into a world class event compared to what is seen across globe.
He said the community intends to leverage on the age-long festival to impact Gross Domestic Product, GDP, and boost the local economy for the benefit of the people of the town.
Olagunju further disclosed that the ongoing 10-year development plan of the community launched in 2022 will enhance growth and development, with emphasis on ICT.
He said, โWe are building an industrial park, we have Offa Innovation Hub to stream the festival live.
โFor us to be relevant in the world of Information Communication and Technology, ICT, we need to build the digital literacy of our people. It is part of what we are doing so that Offa town will not be left behind in digital skills.โ
