Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi has handed head coach of the side, Jose Peseiro a big selection boost ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
Ajayi was a major doubt for both games due to injury.
The 29-year-old has not made an appearance for Sky Bet Championship club West Bromwich Albion since sustaining an injury against Plymouth Argyle two weeks ago.
Albion manager, Carlos Corberan, however, confirmed on Friday that the centre-back is back on his feet again, a development that will be sweet music to the ears of Peseiro.
โJeremy Sarmiento and Semi Ajayi are two players who, if they complete the training session on Friday, can be part of the matchday squad on Saturday,โ Corberan told the clubโs official website.
โThey both trained on Thursday with the group and they came through that fine.
โItโs always really positive to add players back to your squad when you have been missing plenty of them in recent weeks.
โWith Semi, we have one more option at centre-back and he was playing in the first XI at the start of the season.โ
Ajayi is now expected to be included in the Super Eagles squad for the games against the Lesotho and Warriors.
The game against Lesotho is billed for the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Thursday, November 16.
The Super Eagles will do battle with Zimbabwe at the Huye Stadium on Monday, November 20.
