Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has called for a workable partnership with the Federal Government in order to develop the nation’s solid minerals sector in a mutually beneficial and sustainable manner.
Sule made this call during his speech at the Opening Ceremony of the 8th Edition of the Nigeria Mining Week, held at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, the federal Capital Territory.
In his speech, the governor stated the necessity of establishing a functional collaboration between the state and federal authorities to effectively develop the nation’s solid minerals sector.
He echoed the importance of consulting with states during the license issuance process to prevent land degradation and minimise harmful environmental impacts.
Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF), who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the event, officially declared the event open.
