The Coalition of Civil Society Networks has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to make a pronouncement on the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) leadership crisis following the purported refusal of the former Postmaster-General Sunday Adepoju to relinquish office to newly appointed Tola Odeyemi.
DAILY POST recalls that NIPOST staff had shut down the head office of the service in Abuja on Monday, protesting the appointment of Odeyemi as Chief Executive Officer/Postmaster-General.
NIPOST had also issued a statement claiming Adepoju, who was earlier sacked, has been reinstated by the President.
The coalition, in a statement by its Coordinator, Comrade Zakari Hashim, in Bauchi, expressed concern about the ongoing security breach, trust deficit, and unrest within the premises of the NIPOST caused by the actions of the former Postmaster-General.
It stated that the situation is causing unnecessary chaos and instability in the government agency.
“We have observed with deep dismay that Mr Adepoju Sunday has allegedly mobilized a group of individuals, posing as NIPOST staff, to protest and disrupt the functioning of the organization.
“These actions not only undermine the trust and integrity of NIPOST but also pose a threat to the security and stability of the institution,” it said.
The coalition urged the Nigeria Police Force to investigate and take appropriate action.
