The government of Ogun State has threatened to sack any haulage consultants and agents who failed to live up to expectations.
The Ogun State Government warned the haulage agents across the State to show more commitment in increasing revenue generation or risk being sanctioned.
The Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Olu Aikulola, gave the warning at a meeting with Corporate Haulage Revenue Consultants/Agents in Abeokuta yesterday.
Aikulola said the meeting was instructive and compelling โin view of the present realities.โ
The Permanent Secretary expressed concern over the amount realised from haulage so far in 2023, saying it was far below expectations.
Aikulola warned that any haulage consultant and agent with low performance would be sanctioned accordingly; assuring, however, that government would remain committed to paying commissions at the right time.
โThe government is not comfortable with the revenue performance. What is coming in is too far from what is expected. There will be sanctions after this meeting. If we review your performance and discover that you are not performing, we will remove your name. We want a change of narrative,โ a statement by the Ministryโs Press Officer, Femi Onasanya, quoted Aikulola as saying.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, one of the consultants, Kayode Sijuade, commended the Permanent Secretary and others in the Ministry of Trade for providing the needed leadership.
The consultant stated that regular enforcement reminders to companies on their payments would help boost revenue generation.
