Leaders of Organized Labour are currently holding an emergency meeting with the Federal Government over the proposed nationwide indefinite strike scheduled to commence tomorrow, October 3.

DAILY POST reports that unions comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, arrived at the Presidential Villa to convey their decision to the Federal Government over the planned industrial action.

The development comes as the TUC on Monday concluded its National Executive Council, NEC, meeting following its earlier meeting with the Federal Government on Sunday, where some resolutions were reached.

TUC President, Tommy Etim, had after the NEC meeting earlier on Monday, said a meeting with the Federal Government was the next move.

He said, โ€œWe just concluded our meeting a few hours ago, and we received some recommendations from our members, which we will convey to the government later today.โ€

Recall that the Federal Government had announced wage increment, removal of Value Added Tax, facilitation of Compressed Natural Gas initiative and other resolutions after meeting with NLC and TUC on Sunday.

Organized Labour on September 26 announced plans to embark on an indefinite strike on Tuesday, October 3, over fuel subsidy occasioned challenges.
