The Nigerian Embassy in Niger Republic has denied reports of the military juntaโs plot to prevent President Bola Tinubuโs jet from using the countryโs airspace.
This was disclosed by a former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad.
Ahmad tweeted: โThe Embassy of Nigeria in Niger Republic has denied the fake reports that the military junta prohibited President Bola Tinubuโs jet from flying in its airspace.โ
It was reported that the military junta had redirected the presidential jet conveying Tinubu to leave Niger Republicโs airspace.
The presidential jet conveying Tinubu was said to have risked being shot down from the countryโs airspace.
The juntaโs action was not unconnected to Tinubu and the Economic Community of West African State, ECOWAS, stance against the recent coup.
The military had ousted former President Bazoum over the mismanagement of the countryโs resources in a coup.
