Wolves forward, Matheus Nunes has reportedly gone on strike to force the club to accept Manchester Cityโs transfer offer.
Matheus Nunes is determined to join the reigning Premier League champions this summer and fortunately for him, City are also trying to lure him to the Etihad Stadium.
However, Wolves have the final say over his future since he is still contracted to the club until June 30, 2027, with a one-year contract extension option.
Reports claimed that Wolves are ready to sell him but not cheaply, hence, the delay in the ongoing negotiations between them and City.
Wolves rejected Manchester Cityโs ยฃ47 million offer last week in favor of about ยฃ60 million valuation for Nunes. Hence, City are expected to submit a fresh offer for Nunes before the 2023 summer transfer window closes on September 1.
To ensure that Wolves work harder to get him out of the club, Matheus Nunes has decided to miss the clubโs training sessions on Sunday and Monday.
Recall that he joined Wolves from Sporting Lisbon in a club-record ยฃ42 million transfer fee last summer.
The 24-year-old has displayed glimpses of his potential, but his lone goal in the Premier League for Wolves came last season against Chelsea.
Nunesโ 2023-2024 season is off to a bad start after he participated in Wolvesโ 1-0 loss to Manchester United and was then red-carded in the teamโs 4-1 home loss to Brighton on August 19.
