A Muslim group in Kaduna State has accused Governor Uba Sani of marginalization in his appointments so far across the local government areas of the state.
The religious group noted that out of 17 appointments by the incumbent administration, only three were given to Southern Kaduna Muslims.
It described the development as a glaring marginalisation and exclusion of the Muslim population of Southern Kaduna despite their reported support for Governor Sani during the election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The religious group under the guise of the Muslim Youth Foundation of Southern Kaduna (MYFOSKA), asserted that Muslims from other parts of the state have been adequately rewarded with appointments despite voting for opposition parties.
OsunDailyNG reports that the group, however, appealed to Governor Sani for fair representation in political appointments in his government.
Speaking during a press conference during the weekend, the Muslim groupโs National Secretary, Shuaibu Abdallah, represented by Musa Dahiru, appealed to Governor Sani to include Southern Kaduna Muslims in developmental projects and programmes.
He emphasized that Southern Kaduna Muslims voted for APC in the gubernatorial and presidential elections.
โThis is verifiable by any meticulous mind from the eight local government/wards election results from Southern Kaduna in the INEC portal,โ he said.
He added that the APC in Kaduna State enjoyed the overwhelming support of the majority of the Muslims of Southern Kaduna who constituted about 40 per cent of the voters in the region.
Describing the APC as a party of conscience that rewards its supporters, the national secretary said it should as well uphold its rewards system by rewarding the Muslim communities from southern Kaduna.
โAppointment made so far shows glaring marginalisation and exclusion of the Muslim population of Southern Kaduna while our brothers have been adequately represented, despite voting opposition parties.
โGovernment is actually supposed to be for all citizens, irrespective of any difference, but we should be considered, have played critical roles in the emergence of the administration.
โThe Muslims appointment from Southern Kaduna should reflect their percentage and their contribution to the victory of the government,โ Abdallah said.
The statement added: โThe Head of Service, Commissioner of Agriculture and the Executive Secretary of KSDBA are the only appointments given to Southern Kaduna Muslims in the Uba Saniโs administration.โ
Abdalla, therefore, noted that in sustaining their support and confidence for future elections, the groupโs support should not go in vain.
He thanked the governor for the appointments given to the few deserving Muslim individuals from Southern Kaduna while also appealing for more representation at the State and Federal levels.
He said further appointments would be commensurate with their electoral support, loyalty, dexterity and sacrifices.
