Daniel Bwala, a political aide to the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the claim that the Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, is still a corp member.
Recall that a Civil Society organisation, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), had claimed Musawa is a serving corp member, while she was also a minister.
HURIWA also claimed that the culture minister’s place of primary assignment is a law firm in Abuja and has failed to show up for duty for a while.
The rights group, therefore, asked the management of the NYSC to compel Musawa to focus on her national youth service and forfeit the ministerial appointment.
Also, the NYSC management confirmed that the Minister of Art is still undertaking the one-year mandatory youth service scheme and cannot be appointed as a minister.
Reacting to the development in a Twitter post on Saturday, Bwala said President Tinubu is breaking records in his Renewed Hope agenda with his ministerial appointments.
He sarcastically said not only did the President ensure that young people were made ministers, but he also appointed a youth crop member as a minister.
Bwala asserted that the appointment of a youth crop member is against the law.
He wrote: “PBAT is breaking records in the renewed Hope agenda. He not only ensures young people are made ministers, but even an alleged YOUTH CORP MEMBER is made a minister while doing youth service, a practice which the law prohibits. Awesome!”
