The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has warned officials of his Ministry not to frustrate his efforts, urging civil servants to key into his agenda of providing quality infrastructure for the country.
He stated this while interacting with contractors and senior civil servants in the ministry, OsunDailyNG reports.
The former Ebonyi State Governor stated that no civil servant can frustrate his efforts, warning that his file should not spend more than two hours on the table of any ministry official.
According to the former Senate deputy leader, he is determined to instill discipline and hard work in the system.
“No civil servant has the capacity to frustrate me. You can’t keep my file in your office for two hours. You can’t try it,” he said.
The former lawmaker said that he was not answerable to anybody but the Almighty God and President Bola Tinubu, charging the civil servants to do things properly as Nigerians were yearning for change, and the government cannot afford to disappoint them.
The Minister described public funds as cancer, leprosy, HIV/ AIDS, and many others, adding that whoever misappropriates such under his watch would be cursed.
Meanwhile, Umahi, while inspecting the Abuja-Lokoja road alongside the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, said he was not satisfied with the work on Jamata bridge, near Lokoja
He stated that the area was flood-prone, but the ongoing works did not consider that.
‘We should have designed a road that takes care of the flooding. I blame the designers of the road, and we are going to recommend a flyover of 1.6 kilometre along the flood area,” he said.
