A community in Ife South Local Government Area of Osun State, Araromi-Oke Odo now has electricity supply after 91 years of its establishment, DAILY POST learnt.

This is also as Governor, Ademola Adeleke has promised to partner with independent energy companies to light up communities that have been in darkness for a long time.

DAILY POST also gathered that the community founded in 1932, had been without electricity and many other basic amenities like pipe-borne water and good roads.

Represented by the Commissioner for Energy, Adeyemo Ademola, Governor Adeleke praised the residents of the community for their endurance since 1932 when they settled in the town.

Adeyemi assured that the government would extend the project to other communities in the State.

โ€œThis is the first of its kind in this State. We appreciate the Sholep company and we are anticipating more of it.

โ€œThere are projects of this nature going on in eight different communities in Ife-South. We are extending the same gesture to other communities in other local governments in Osun.

โ€œThe State government is partnering with foreign investors to give energy to our State. Many communities are not under the grid, so the State government is allowing independent energy to fill the gap to light up Osun State,โ€ Adeleke said.

In his words, the CEO, Sholep Energy Limited, Engr. Olalekan Adeleke Shogbesan, revealed that the World Bank Assisted project mainly financed by the company (Sholep) was underway in eleven (11) different communities within the Ife-south local government area of the State.

He said the 50KWP Hybrid Solar Mini-Grid Power Plant which construction started in 2018 was enough to supply power to the entire community of Araromi Oke-Odo for adequate electricity.

The Alara of Araromi Oke-odo, Oba Abass Gbadamosi expressed happiness that the project came to fruition as many doubted it when the company came to the community.

He promised that the community would cooperate with the company in all ramifications and protect its business interest.
