Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has said he remains optimistic about Nigeriaโ€™s potential for greatness, saying that the country is moving closer to achieving remarkable success in various aspects of its national life, irrespective of challenges.

In a statement marking Nigeriaโ€™s 63rd independence anniversary, Governor Radda emphasised that while the nation has not reached its full potential, it is steadily progressing toward a brighter future.

He cited Nigeriaโ€™s emergence as a model for democratic governance in Africa and its robust economy as promising signs.

Since gaining independence from British colonial rule on October 1st, 1960, Nigeria has remained a sovereign nation. According to Governor Radda, this milestone calls for a celebration that unites all Nigerians from diverse backgrounds.

He noted that Nigeria has made significant strides in economic development, politics, infrastructure, and overall growth over the past six decades.

He said despite challenges along the way, the nation has continued to evolve positively.

Radda also praised the contributions of Nigeriaโ€™s founding fathers and nationalists who worked towards independence and the countryโ€™s subsequent development.

He highlighted the achievements of Nigerian citizens and youth in various fields, such as arts, music, technology, sports, and leadership, especially, on the global stage.

As Nigeria marks another year of independence, Governor Radda called on both the leadership and the general populace to recommit themselves to serving the nation, emphasising the importance of loyalty, patriotism, and unity, regardless of religious, political, or ethnic differences.

He also urged politicians and public servants to prioritise national interest above personal agenda, expressing hope that Nigeriaโ€™s leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his cabinet, would work diligently to address the countryโ€™s challenges while the public supports them through cooperation and prayers.
