The Ogun State House of Assembly will on Monday begin the appraisal of the 2023 budget performance for the third quarter of the year.
Various ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of the state government and local government councils would be assessed to ascertain their level of compliance with the 2023 Appropriation Law.
In a statement by the Clerk of the Assembly and Head of Legislative Service, ‘Deji Adeyemo, it was stated that the exercise is part of the oversight functions of the legislative arm of government in promoting accountability and transparency.
Adeyemo explained that the exercise is in consonance with sections 128 and 129 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
According to him, the budget performance assessment would commence at 10am daily and end on Monday, October 30, 2023.
Adeyemo urged all MDAs of the state government as well as local government councils to make available relevant documents and information to ensure the success of the exercise.
